Kau Inoa Small Grants Program
GUIDELINES
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs recognizes that it will take great personal effort and dedication on the part of many volunteers to achieve a Kau Inoa Registration goal of 400,000 Hawaiians.
The purpose of the Hawaiian Governance Hale's small grants program is to provide a monetary incentive to encourage individuals and organizations to actively participate in the nation-building activities.
The kinds of activities grantees may wish to engage in include, but are not limited to:
- Registering Hawaiians for Kau Inoa
- Conducting or hosting educational presentations
- Staffing locations for the distribution of information or Kau Inoa T-Shirts
Generally, these small grants
- Are available to any individual or organization -- there is no non-profit or residency requirement;
- Require advance application to and approval by the OHA Hawaiian Governance staff;
- Can be awarded for either specific events or short-term projects;
- Are awarded in varying dollar amounts depending on the type of event and the hours of work required.
In special cases, grants awards can be made available on an accumulative, ongoing basis for a defined period of time, rather than for single individual events.
IN ALL CASES, GRANT REQUESTS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
Although the small grants program is intended to be simple, there are some procedures that guide the process and certain forms that must be completed accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with OHA's policy of fiscal responsibility.
